For your six

Update : 28 Jul 2015, 12:56 PM

Here is a solid list of tips you can use on your iPhone 6 to make your navigating and overall experience as smooth as possible.

You can close up to three apps at once. Relieve the stress on your thumb by simply swiping up with three fingers on your screen. Now, you can force-close multiple apps faster than usual.

Shut your flashlight off in a flash. You have the access to your flashlight through the iOS’ Control Centre, but you’ll be able to shut it off quickly by using the camera shortcut from the lock screen.

There are plenty of useful tools you didn’t know about. Like checking to see if an object is perfectly horizontal or vertical. The iOS’ built-in leveling tool uses the phone’s gyroscope, and in order to access this, launch the compass, then swipe right to reveal the level or degree.

Typing e-mails are as important as sending iMessages. You can actually change plain text into bold, italic or underline them by highlighting a part of the sentence and tapping the arrow in the copy/paste pop-up. Once that shows up, choose “B / U” to change the format of your text.

The majority of Android phones have a dedicated “back” button, which is lacking on the iPhone. Fortunately, in Messages, Mail or Safari, you can swipe right from the edge of the screen to go to the previous page. Social media apps like Instagram also have this feature.

You can customise vibrations on any given contact. Go to Contacts, choose the contact, tap the Edit option in the upper-right hand corner. Scroll down until you find Vibration > Create New Vibration. And well, you can take it from there.

Data or Wi-Fi? You choose. You can actually choose which apps should only use your phone service’s data plan and which of them can only be turned on and used with Wi-Fi. Go on over to the Settings > Cellular and toggle between the services on your list.

It’s a small feature but can become significant. You can reveal the time stamps on a message by dragging the message screen to the left.

There’s a much faster (really fast) way to charge your iPhone 6. All you have to do is switch to Airplane mode. Seriously, that’s all you have to do. Well, don’t forget to turn the backlight off either.

You might be wondering why there are both blue and green messages in your conversations. Blue ones mean they have been sent or received using Apple’s iMessage technology, while the green ones are traditional SMS texts that are being sent.
