With 60 organisations participating and over 50 seminars taking place, the 8th National Career Fair (NCF) was held at North South University (NSU). The Career and Professional Development Services (CPDS), NSU organised this massive get-together of organisations and job-seekers. The two-day long event took place on June 7-8.
The event was open to graduates of all universities as Dr Khasro Miah, Director of CPDS, stated that no entry fees were taken from graduates of other universities. This motivated the director of Career Development Centre of the Asian University for Women (AUW), Chittagong to fly 50 new graduates to Dhaka. The successful publicity led graduates from Dinajpur and even Thakurgaon to call the hotline number and plan trips to NSU.
When asked what made the 8th National Career Fair different from previous events, Dr Khasro Miah said: “This time we are organising 52 seminars at five different halls, covering topics that will help and counsel graduates to understand which organisation and career path will help them reach their dreams and objectives.”
Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said: “Choosing the right employer is very important for students to be successful in their lives. Student should choose the right job for them so that they can concentrate on the job they choose and get a successful career in the future.”
Michael Kuehner, CEO, Robi Axiata Ltd said: “A career fair such as this is a hotbed of energy and enthusiasm and as a recruiting company, it is our job to harness that latent force and channel it in the right direction.”
Zahirul Islam, Team Member-HR of BSRM was really happy from the response they got in this fair. “Since we’re based in Chittagong it’s really hard to get qualified talent but these events help us immensely.” In a previous career fair Zahirul Islam hired 25 professionals.
Sharmin Sultan, General Manager, HR Operations of Robi mentioned that participating in such events did not just help them find new job-seekers but it also helped them to communicate the changes in corporate culture that Robi has implemented after changing from Aktel.”

Cooperatives attended the closing ceremony.
