Keeping skin happy through the winter chill

The colder months bring lower humidity and crisp air, and together they tend to draw moisture away from the skin without us even realising it

As winter slowly settles in, many of us begin to notice small changes in our skin — a bit more dryness, a slight tightness after washing, or a dullness that wasn’t there before.

The colder months bring lower humidity and crisp air, and together they tend to draw moisture away from the skin without us even realising it.

This is why winter calls for a slightly different approach to skincare. The products that work so well in summer often feel a little too light now.

Switching to a gentle, cream-based cleanser can make a big difference, helping the skin stay soft without stripping away its natural oils. Moisturisers with ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, or glycerin, offer deeper hydration and help strengthen the skin’s barrier — something winter challenges the most.

Exfoliation, too, becomes more delicate during this season. Instead of frequent scrubs, using a mild exfoliant once or twice a week is enough to remove dead skin cells and allow moisture to sink in more effectively.

Sunscreen remains essential, even on cooler, cloudy days. UV rays continue to affect the skin year-round, and a lightweight SPF helps protect from long-term damage.

Lips and hands often feel the effects of winter first. Keeping a nourishing lip balm and a hydrating hand cream nearby can prevent dryness and keep them feeling comfortable throughout the day.

Hydration from within is just as important. Drinking enough water, enjoying seasonal fruits, and including omega-rich foods in your meals all support the skin’s natural glow.

Winter skincare doesn’t have to be complicated. With a few thoughtful adjustments, it’s easy to keep your skin calm, hydrated, and comfortable, no matter how chilly the weather becomes.
