Through this partnership, Schneider will support UCEP Bangladesh to set up 19 labs on Electrical and Solar trades in UCEP Bangladesh’s 19 technical schools to train unemployed youths in Bangladesh in the electrical and renewable energy field, and assist them in upgrading their skill levels to find better job opportunities. The foundation will also develop their capacity for the UCEP Bangladesh trainers to provide vocational training through these labs. UCEP Bangladesh aims to train 15,000+ youth in Electric and Solar across Bangladesh over the period of five years.
“We have launched this initiative with the aim of contributing to bridging the skill gap and enabling underprivileged youth to gain access to the job market, further contributing to the country's socio-economic development in Bangladesh,” said Manisha Singh, Senior GM and Head CSR, South Asia, Schneider Electric."
UCEP Bangladesh was established by Lindsay Allan Cheyne, a New Zealander in 1972 with the motto ‘Help to Learn; Skills to Earn’. It’s an NGO which has been working towards the development of skilled workforce for 49 years, thus contributing to the country’s vision 2041 and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030. It has a special focus on social inclusion and therefore gives priority to females, children, and the youth from poor and underprivileged families.
Moreover, the Schneider Electric foundation shares the vision to support new economies, providing vocational training in energy management, access to energy, and emergency support during natural disasters. Currently, the foundation works in over 60 countries and has set the goal of training 1 million youths across the globe by 2025.
