Eminent journalist Syed Ahmed Ali Baru, editor of Narail's Daily Gramer Bani, passed away suffering a heart failure in Narail on Monday night.
Editor Syed Baru, 63, also served as general secretary of Narail Press Club and as a field reporter for The Daily Ittefaq, Banglar Bani, and Daily Purbanchal in the course of his professional life as a journalist.
Family members say Syed Baru had a heart attack around 8:30pm on Monday night and was rushed to Narail Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
His bereaved colleagues and friends expressed shock and grief at his untimely death and said a luminary of Narail journalism, Baru, was active in the profession for more than 40 years and will be missed.
Prominent political figures, local representatives, fellow journalists and people from all walks of his life have expressed their condolences at the sudden demise of Baru.
He was laid to rest at the Narail Municipal Cemetery after Zuhr prayers on Monday afternoon.
