Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi, an Oikya Front candidate for Gaibandha 3 constituency, passed away due to old age complications at a city hospital early Thursday.
The 84 year old former lawmaker Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi died around 3:30am at Dhaka’s United Hospital.
He had been suffering from various diseases including bronchitis and high blood pressure, reports UNB.
He left behind his wife, three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
Sadullahpur unit BNP Shafiul Islam Swapan said Fazle Rabbi had been suffering from heart disease and could not campaign properly for the December 30 polls due to illness.
Few days ago, he had felt chest pain while staying at his Dhaka residence and was later admitted to the United Hospital, he said.
Born on October 1, 1938, Chowdhury was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) five times and also served as a minister three times. He was serving as the acting chairman of Kazi Zafar-led Jatiya Party and was contesting the upcoming polls with Oikya Front under “sheaf of paddy”.
Rabbi had a long political career spanning decades. In 1984, he joined the HM Ershad led Jatiya Party and served as Ershad’s political affairs advisor.
