Hollywood actor Henry Cavill has landed the lead role in the upcoming Netflix show “The Witcher.”

According to numerous media outlets, the Superman actor will play the role of “Geralt of Rivia,” the titular “Witcher” in an eight-part series based on the best-selling fantasy novel and video game franchise of the same name.

The incredibly popular books were adapted into video games, which further propelled their popularity.

“The Witcher” follows Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who finds people are more wicked than beasts. Destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, and the three of them team up to navigate the increasingly volatile continent together.

Cavill shared the news on Instagram, posting a picture of the Netflix home screen with the username Geralt of Rivia.

He joked: "My new mailing address is: Geralt, C/O Vesemir, Kaer Morhen, Kaer Morhen Valley, Hertch, Kaedwen.”

Alik Sakharov (The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Rome), Alex Garcia Lopez (Netflix’s The Punisher, Netflix’s Daredevil), and Charlotte Brändström (The Disappearance, Conspiracy of Silence) have been selected to direct the first season.

Cavill’s last TV appearance was in 2010 in historical drama “The Tudors.”

The British actor is primarily known for his role as Superman in the DC Universe, having played the role in the film’s “Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Justice League.”

He also recently starred in the blockbuster action film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.”

Fans were already speculating about Cavill’s casting, and a fanart portraying Cavill as Geralt made the rounds in the internet earlier in August.
