Bangladesh student protests trend on Reddit, Twitter

The student protests in Dhaka are being heavily discussed across different social media platforms

The protests across the capital are being acknowledged by international media while dominating social media discussions across different platforms.

On Reddit, two separate posts concerning the student protests have 108k and 136k upvotes (the Reddit equivalent of Facebook likes) and are sorted into the “top” category. "Top" posts on Reddit are posts that are heavily upvoted and commented on during a certain period of time- in this case, the last 24 hours.

School students have been protesting in demand for safer roads for 7 days in Bangladesh. Today, they were outnumbered and attacked by the student wing of the Bangladeshi government. from r/worldnews

On Twitter, #RoadSafetyBD has 11.1k Tweets so far and the word “Bangladesh” has been used in over 600k Tweets. Meanwhile #bangladeshstudentprotests has 50.8k Tweets.

Twitter has deleted #WeWantJustice; the hashtag was trending with over 60k tweets until it was suddenly deleted without explanation.
