Bizarre but true! Ryan Reynolds is producing a new version of ”Home Alone” titled ”Stoned Alone,” centred around a stoner kid who gets left home alone and has to defend his house from burglars while stoned up to the eyeballs, reports Deadline.
The original version starring Macaulay Culkin as a troublesome kid showed how he was forgotten by his family when they were headed to Paris for Christmas, and he was then forced to defend his house from burglars.
According to Deadline, the spoof version will centre on a twenty-something who grows cannabis and misses the plane for his skiing holiday.
As he becomes more paranoid while taking the drug, he imagines the house is being burgled. Later on he realises it actually is being robbed.
He then has to protect the property while completely stoned. The film is currently listed as ‘in development’ on IMDB.
The original film was released in 1990 launching the career of Culkin and grossed $477 million from a production budget of $18 million as well as creating four super hit sequels.
“Stoned Alone,” said to be in development at Fox, is set to be directed by American filmmaker Augustine Frizzell and written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider.
