Chhayanaut, a cultural organisation devoted to the practice and preservation Bangla cultural heritage, has organized a two-day-long Nazrul Utsab at their main auditorium.
The event, which began on Friday, opened with the song “Onjoli Loho Mor Sangeete” and the welcome speech was delivered by Chhayanaut Vice President Khairul Anam Shakil. Dhaka University Bangla Department’s Professor Begum Akhtar Kamal led a discussion on national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Artists Ferdous Ara, Yasmin Mushtari, Yakub Ali Khan, Khairul Anam Shakil, Mafizur Rahman and many more sang Nazrul geetis at the event.
On the first day of the festival, Suman Majumdar sang “Bedona-Bihbol Pagol Pubali Pobone,” Nawshin Tabassum sang “Tumi Sundor Kopot He Nath,” Kaniz Husna Ahmmadi sang “Megher Domru Ghono Baaje,” Tanvir Ahmed sang “Tomar Baanire Korini Grohon,” and Oishorjo Somadder sang “Shaon Ashilo Fire.”
Moreover, Vassar Bandyopadhyay and Kazi Madina recited some of Nazrul’s work.
