Shilpakala Academy arranges grand event for World Music Day

Shilpakala Academy arranged a grand event to celebrate World Music Day on Thursday.

The event featured a plenary discussion and a cultural program, to celebrate this occasion. Minister for Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor attended as the event’s chief guest.

After the opening remarks given by Shilpakala Academy’s Department of song, dance and recitation Director Sohrab Uddin, musician Timir Nandi played the piano for the audience. The panel for the discussion was made up with popular musicians Momtaz Begum, Andrew Kishore, Gazi Abdul Hakim, Ayub Bachchu, Sujit Mostafa and Rezwana Chowdhury Bonna. It was held in the national theatre auditorium, and it was moderated by critically acclaimed artist Mostofa Zaman Abbasi. 

After the plenary session, the cultural program began with a presentation of instrumental music. The first piece was played by Bangladesh Instrumental Artist Forum under the direction of Chandan Dutta, and then there was a solo-violin performance by Ruposhi Momtaz. 

Choir performances were given by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy children’s choir, and choir groups from Shishu Academy and Government Music College. The band music set featured Joler Gaan and Gaan Pagol. The event was hosted by Anika Fariha.
