Dan Cake Bangladesh and Blue Fox Entertainment hosted a concert titled “Legacy of Rock and Roll,” with major bands of the country, to pay tribute to rock legends of the world. The event was held at Dhaka’s International Convention City Bashundhara — ICCB on May 11.

The ICCB premises seemed to be loaded with music enthusiasts from all around the city. It explains how the youth is influenced by new peers in the music industry. In the early 1980's, the Bangladeshi music industry was introduced to modern Bangla rock music. Musicians formed bands with musicians other like minded musicians working in the same genre. These bands were mostly influenced by foreign rock bands since rock culture was not yet part of mainstream Bangladeshi culture.

Showtime asked Chowdhury Fazle Sakib, vocalist of Cryptic Fate, why they are paying tribute while they have numerous hit originals of their own.

“Every band has a story. These bands looked up to bands like Nirvana, Iron Maiden and such. Practice pads used to be stormed by the music they listened to and admired. The prevailing audience should understand from where their favourite bands have evolved. Hence, the tribute,” replied Sakib.

Vocalist of AvoidRafa, Raef Al Hasan Rafa, talked about the necessity of listeners admiring new age music.

Each Bangladeshi band covered their favorite tracks from bands that were their inspiration. The band Connected covered Creed, Owned - Foo Fighters, Radioactive - Guns N' Roses and Bon Jovi, Powersurge - Metallica, AvoidRafa - Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit, Cryptic Fate - Iron Maiden, Trainwreck - Lamb of God, Echoes - Pink Floyd, Mechanix - Pantera, Indalo - Radiohead, Arbovirus – Nirvana, and System Of A Down and Miles covered the very best of rock and roll.
