Cricket brought together eight teams in Bajaur this September for the first edition of the Bajaur Premier League (BPL), a tournament organised by 19-year-old entrepreneur and content creator Muhammad Shoaib from Bajaur.
At 19, Shoaib is an entrepreneur from Bajaur who has also built an audience through content creation. His work outside cricket includes business activities and creating content, while his involvement in the Bajaur Premier League has added another role to his profile as an organiser of a local sporting event.
Shoaib served as the chief organiser of the tournament and handled the arrangements himself. The competition featured eight teams and carried a total prize pool of Rs. 1 crore.
The BPL formally began on 15 September, when the opening ceremony was held and the first match of the tournament was played. The competition continued over the following days before the final was held on 20 September.
Shoaib was involved in the tournament not only as its chief organiser but also as the person behind one of the participating teams. His side, Steagle Cricket Club, competed in the BPL and eventually reached the final.
Steagle Cricket Club went on to win the tournament, giving Shoaib a title as both the organiser of the first BPL and a member of the team that lifted the cup. The result brought the first edition to a close on 20 September.
Organising a tournament involving eight teams required Shoaib to manage the event from its opening stage through to the final. He took responsibility for the arrangements himself rather than leaving the organisation to a separate team.
The first edition also set the foundation for Shoaib’s plans for the BPL’s future. He has expressed his belief that the second edition will be historic, with expectations of taking the tournament forward after its first season.
The BPL’s first edition has therefore given Shoaib a starting point for future editions while also adding a cricket event to the sporting activities in Bajaur. His dual role as chief organiser and participant made the tournament a personal achievement as well, with Steagle Cricket Club ending the competition as champions.
Shoaib’s work on the first edition came alongside his career as an entrepreneur and content creator. Rather than limiting his involvement to the playing side, he took responsibility for organising the tournament and overseeing it from the opening ceremony on 15 September to the final on 20 September.
With the first BPL now completed and Steagle Cricket Club holding the inaugural title, attention can turn to what comes next. Shoaib has already indicated that he has bigger expectations for the second edition and believes it can become a historic chapter for the tournament.
For now, the first edition stands as the starting point of the Bajaur Premier League, with eight teams competing for a Rs. 1 crore prize pool and Steagle Cricket Club taking home the cup.
