The Friday DLF is always a special treat for children, as the organizers plan a plethora of activities for young readers. Guba Publishing, the purveyor and publisher of bilingual books and learning tools for children had a storytelling panel featuring readings by two of their published authors, Samai Haider and Asma Ul Husna Sanchinta.
Samai Haider's Tilmund's Travel Tales is a lovely story about a boy who overcomes his anxieties, gets bitten by the travel bug and discovers the world. After her reading, she invited the illustrator Reesham Shahab Tirtho onstage to talk about developing the characters.
GUBAAsma Ul Husna Sanchita read from her book Ami Bokul, a story about a young boy who meets Rohingya refugees, and through a shared act of compassion towards an animal, learns to overcome his prejudice about them.
The session ended with book signings and photos. Both titles, and a slew of new books are available at the Guba Publishing stall at the Dhaka Lit Fest.
