Writer Amitav Ghosh said that people are weaker than the nature. No matter how much humans affect the nature, the nature will revive itself and so to have a healthy life people need to take care of the nature.
He made the remarks during the discussion session on the novel “The Hungry Tide” which won the Hutch Crossword Award for Fiction on the second day of Dhaka Lit Fest on Friday.
Moderated by Dhaka Lit Fest director and producer Sadaf Saaz, the session started with the name of the novel but it covered diverse topics including current environmental crisis, climate change, Bengali literature and various inconsistencies of historical events with the concept of development.

In this regard, he said: “Historically, humans have been damaging the environment. But now its levels have increased at an alarming rate.”
He added: “Day by day we are becoming individualized instead of being organized. The experience of reading a book is now very personal. This was not the case before. Sitting by the fire, a group of people read a book or told a story at home. This flavour of the story is not what it used to be anymore.”
