Dhaka Lit Fest Director Kazi Anis Ahmed has said the satisfaction from organizing the literary event outweighs all the challenges it entails.
Kazi Anis Ahmed, who is also the publisher of Dhaka Tribune and Bangla Tribune, in a discussion on Tuesday evening hosted by Munni Saha, said it might seem crazy to organize such a big event like Dhaka Lit Fest.
“But starting it is not crazy, continuing it is. Holding it is a big pleasure for us, and there are obviously some challenges. But the satisfaction we get from arranging it is incomparable.
“We are able to bring writers from the major economies of the world to Bangladesh. Our readers and authors get a chance to observe them, hear them talk. We connect with those readers as well. There can be nothing better for those of us who love stories, literature and the intellectual world,” he said.
Kazi Anis continued: “The three of us (the three directors of Dhaka Lit Fest) have similar thoughts in many aspects, and there are differences of opinion as well. A productive conversation can finally result in a wise choice thanks to how we can talk about it. Again, the three of us have various abilities and interests, for which we can work on quite a large scale.
"We always say that none of us could have arranged this year's event singlehandedly, and if one of us three goes away, it will be a great loss. I doubt that we will be able to make up for it at that point."
