Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Tk469.5 crore, which was Tk498.82 crore at the previous session of the week

Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Monday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 12.47 points or 0.20% to 6,201.56.

Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 3.07 points to finish at 2,197.08 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.53 points to close at 1,344.54.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Tk469.5 crore, which was Tk498.82 crore at the previous session of the week.

Out of 318 issues traded, 91 declined, 37 advanced and 190 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

BEACHHATCH was the day's top gainer, posting 9.86% gain while Al-HAJTEX was the worst loser, losing 6.21%.

 The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 11.16 points to settle at 18,298.13 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 6.99 points to close at 10,968.25.

 Of the issues traded, 37 declined, 22 advanced and 57 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 1.91 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Tk10.68 crore.
