After witnessing a downward trend in the last two sessions, stocks on Monday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges thanks to a recovery in the global markets.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, soared 63.31 points, or 0.94%, to 6,739.45 at the end of the day.
Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE30 Index, comprising blue chips, rising 14.56 points to finish at 2,482.36 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advancing 8.34 points to close at 1,453.48.
At the DSE, 314 stocks advanced, 36 declined and 27 remained the same.
However, daily trade turnover plunged to Tk7,300.19 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Tk9,162.87 million.
Stocks of Beximco Ltd traded mostly worth Tk55 crore followed by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Anwar Galvanizing, Fortune Shoes, and Sonali Papers.
Tamij Textile topped the gainers' list that rose 8.74% followed by Premier Bank, ARAMITCEM, MONOSPOOL and Padma Life.
Crown Cement dropped 3.26% followed by KTL, SEML IBBL Shariah Fund, Olympic Industries and ICBAGRANI1.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI - gaining 140.60 points to settle at 19,641.26.
Among the traded 305 traded stocks, 210 rose, 67 fell and 28 remained the same.
