Two insurance companies declare Q2 financials

Bangladesh National Insurance Company Limited witnessed a massive 442.1% increase in its Q2 earnings

Two insurance companies declared their Q2 (April-June) financials in separate filings with Dhaka Stock Exchange on Wednesday. 

The companies are: Bangladesh National Insurance Company Limited and Asia Insurance Limited.

Bangladesh National Insurance Company Limited witnessed a massive 442.1% increase in its Q2 earnings. 

In its filing, the company said that its earnings per share (EPS) was Tk1.03 for the Q2 of 2021 as against Tk0.19 for the Q2 of 2020. 

The company’s net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk20.85 as of June 30, 2021, and Tk20.17 as of December 31, 2020.

Bangladesh National Insurance made its debut on Dhaka Stock Exchange back on April 21, 2016. It offered a 15% cash dividend to its shareholders back in the year 2020. 

During Wednesday’s trade, the closing price for each of its shares was Tk124.

Meanwhile, Asia Insurance Limited reported a 70.45% increase in its Q2 earnings. 

In its filing, the company said that its EPS was Tk0.75 for the Q2 of 2021 as against Tk0.44 for the same period of the previous year. 

Its NAV per share stood at Tk25.30 as of June 30, 2021, and Tk20.48 as of June 30, 2020.

Back in the year 2020, Asia Insurance offered a 12% cash dividend to its shareholders. The closing price for each of its shares was Tk94.5 during Wednesday’s session.
