BATBC EPS, dividend decline

The multinational company reported EPS of Tk51.37 for the year ending on December 31, 2019 as against Tk55.62 for 2018. Its earnings declined by 7.64%

The British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) on Sunday reported lower earnings per share (EPS) and dividend for last year compared to those of previous year.

The multinational company reported EPS of Tk51.37 for the year ending on December 31, 2019 as against Tk55.62 for 2018. Its earnings declined by 7.64%.

The board of directors of BATBC recommended 400% cash dividend for the year ending on December 31, 2019, said an official disclosure posted on Dhaka Stock Exchange on the same day.

The company disbursed 500% cash and 200% stock dividend for the year ending on December 31, 2018. 

The annual general meeting (AGM) will be held on April 22 at the Ball Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. The record date for AGM is March 12.

BATBC reported net asset value (NAV) of each share at Tk198.85 for the last year as against Tk164.05 for the previous year.

Each share price of the company, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 1977, fell  by Tk12 or 1.11% and closed at Tk1,063 on the day at Dhaka Stock Exchange.

Talking to Dhaka Tribune, BATBC company secretary Md Azizur Rahman blamed the rise of cigarette prices behind the declining profit.
