The farmers are expecting a bumper production as transplantation of Boro rice seedling is nearing completion in the district.
They are now busy in nurturing the paddy fields with the enthusiasm of getting more production of rice.
Favourable climatic condition and adequate supply of high quality seed has helped the farmers.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official sources said around 46,500 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in all five upazilas of the district with the production target of 3,72,000mt tons of fresh rice in this season.
Deputy Director of DAE of Panchagarh Abu Hossein said about 90% lands have already been planted and the remaining would be completed within one week.
The Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) distributed high quality Boro seed to the farmers of the district at fair price. Besides, the department has distributed Boro seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs among 200 farmers at free of cost to make the cultivation program a success.
Different commercial banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan bank (RAKUB) has distributed easy term loans to the farmers.
The department has also given training on modern agricultural production technologies amongst farmers for boosting bumper production.
