"Businessmen have been asked to register with online system, as the Prime Minister would inaugurate the registration process this month," he said while addressing a shadow parliament on income tax management at FDC auditorium organised by Debate for Democracy.
Mentioning that the new VAT Law would be enacted on July 1, the NBR Chairman said income tax, VAT and Customs law has been updated to establish a pro-people tax system in the country.
"Officials are being groomed so they could provide service and eliminate fear on tax among the people," he added.
Describing different initiatives of NBR for revenue collection, Nojibur said they have identified Tk27.5 lakh ETIN holders till February which means people being motivated on the submission of income tax return.
Participants at the Shadow Parliament proposed for establishment of separate tribunal to identify and punish tax-dodgers.
Replying to them, NBR Chairman said such legal platform could be formed to boost revenue, but need to consult with legal experts before going to this move.
He said NBR is working with stakeholders to raise awareness on tax. "Tax net would be expanded if tax awareness is built."
Later, he distributed crest and certificate among the participants.
