Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said that daily mobile banking transactions in Bangladesh now average Tk994 crore.
The minister made the statement in response to a starred question from Awami League MP (Chattogram-12) Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury in Parliament yesterday, reports UNB.
The finance minister added that there were 64 million people with mobile banking accounts in Bangladesh, and 36 million of them actively used mobile banking for transactions.
Meanwhile, in response to a starred question from ruling party MP AKM Rahmatullah, Muhith said Bangladesh had received commitments for $14,612.18 million in foreign assistance from various countries and donor agencies in FY18.
Of the total, $14,231.45 million were from loans and $380.73 million were donations.
The finance minister further said that $6,290.75 million of the foreign assistance had been disbursed in the fiscal year, with $5,910.12 million of the total as loans and $380.63 million as donations.
