Update : 18 Mar 2014, 03:11 PM

The budget for 2014-15 fiscal years would have commerce and investment friendly taxation, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has said on Tuesday.

A handout has been issued by the Ministry of Information in this regard.

According to the handout, the minister told the media: “The move will aim to encourage production in the country.”

The government will work to alleviate problems of investment, the minister said after meeting leaders of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI).

He urged investors to come up with specific problems for investment. “The government will form powerful committees to alleviate these problems.”

The government will provide all necessary aid to protect the national industries, Amu said. “High import duty on finished products is justified.”

BCI leaders were satisfied with the prevailing economy of the country. They sought the $19b national reserve and Tk82, 000 crore liquid money in banks for investment.
