Tofail leaves for India today

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed leaves Dhaka today for India to attend a Saarc Business Leaders Conclave to be held in New Delhi on Friday and Saturday.

Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and commerce ministry of India are jointly organising the fifth such event. Tofail Ahmed is going to attend the two-day conference at the invitation of Indian Commerce, Industry and Textiles Minister Anand Sharma.

He is scheduled to take part in the first session of the ministerial round titled “Taking Stock of the South Asian Economic Integration Process” as a panelist. There will be a total of six sessions, including the inaugural session. 

The conclave is aimed at devising ways to strengthen economic activities among the Saarc countries and generate employment through expansion of businesses. It would emphasis on the highest uses of the latest modern technologies to produce goods.

The meet would also discuss the achievement of South Asia Free Trade Area (SAFTA) towards establishing a duty-free region by 2016.
