The Ministry of Food has issued an international tender for importing 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat, the seventh such notice as part of the 850,000MT wheat import target for 2013-14.
The deadline to submit offers is October 27 with validity up to November 5.
Two more tenders are in process, with one due to open on October 8 and another on October 22.
The tender notice is available in the website of the Directorate General of Food under the Ministry of Food. A copy of the notice is also available with this report (attached below).
Quotation documents are available in exchange for a non-refundable fee of Tk5,000 or $75 through a pay order or bank draft drawn in favour of Director General, Directorate General of Food.
The mode of payment has to be through a letter of credit (LC).
The government has set the wheat import target at 850,000 tonnes for the running 2013-14 fiscal year to ensure the country's food security during the period.
Bangladesh has already signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine to import 200,000 tonnes of wheat under the plan.
