The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) has decided to raise the price per bhori of gold by Tk1,400.
As a result, the price of high quality or 22 carat gold will now stand at Tk50,738. The new price would be effective from Wednesday, January 10, according to a Bajus press release.
According to the release, every bhori (11.664 grams) of 22 carat gold would be sold at Tk50,738, 21 carat gold at Tk48,406, and 18 carat gold would be sold at Tk43,157 per bhori.
Gold made using the traditional method would be sold at Tk26,536 per bhori.
However, the price of silver would stay unchanged at Tk1,050 per bhori.
Previously, every bhori of 22 carat gold was valued at Tk49,339, 21 carat gold at Tk47,123, and 18 carat gold at Tk41,874. Gold made under the traditional system was valued at Tk25,661.
According to jewellers , 22 carat gold contains 91% of the metal, while 21 carat gold contains 87%, while 18 carat gold contains 75% of the metal.
