Md Mahmudul Hoque has been unanimously elected chairman of the board of directors of Jamuna Bank PLC.

The election took place at the bank's 486th board meeting on October 28, 2026.

Before assuming the role, Hoque served on the bank's board executive committee and previously served as the bank's chairman in 2012.

Hoque is one of Jamuna Bank's sponsor directors, and the bank said his unanimous election reflected the board's continued confidence in his leadership, understanding of the financial sector and experience in the country's industrial sector.

Hoque started his business career at a young age and has accumulated nearly 40 years of experience across textiles, power generation, banking, education and real estate.

In 1994, he founded Anlima Yarn Dyeing Limited, a publicly traded company listed on both stock exchanges in Bangladesh.

Several sister concerns of Anlima Group operate under his leadership.

Hoque is involved in corporate social responsibility and socioeconomic development initiatives within Anlima Group and through various social organizations and charitable causes. He has also travelled extensively internationally.

Born in Chittagong, Hoque is married to Hubbun Nahar Hoque, a sponsor shareholder of Jamuna Bank, and they have a daughter and a son, both of whom have established careers.
