NRB Bank holds Annual Risk Conference 2026

NRB Bank PLC convened its Annual Risk Conference 2026 on 10 October 2026 in a hybrid arrangement at a Club Notredamians Bangladesh Limited, Banani-10, Dhaka as part of the bank’s commitment towards building awareness of risk, to establish robust risk management culture and to be compliant with regulatory directives. 

The theme of this year’s risk conference was “Risk Management as part of Bankers’ DNA”.

The conference was graced by Istequemal Hussain, director (BSD-10), Bangladesh Bank, as chief guest; Mohammad Abdur Rab, director (SPCD), Bangladesh Bank, as special guest & resource person; and Md Mahfuzur Rahman, additional director (BSD-10), Bangladesh Bank as resource person. 

The conference was hosted by Tarek Reaz Khan, managing director & CEO, NRB Bank PLC.

All other members of senior management and divisional heads of the bank physically participated in the conference; while representatives of all branches and sub-branches all over the country of the bank joined the conference on digital platform.

Istequemal Hussain, director (BSD-10), Bangladesh Bank highlighted the importance of risk management in long term sustainable banking operation and thanked the Management of NRB Bank for addressing the spirit of the age “Risk Management as part of Bankers’ DNA” as core theme of the conference.

Mohammad Abdur Rab, director (SPCD), Bangladesh Bank highlighted insightful discussions on risk-based supervision, regulatory compliance, risk identification and mitigation strategies, emphasizing the importance of embedding risk awareness and accountability into everyday banking practices.

Md Mahfuzur Rahman, additional director (BSD-10), Bangladesh Bank discusses on the major areas where NRB Bank need to focus for resiliency. 

Tarek Reaz Khan, managing director & CEO, NRB Bank PLC discusses on the importance of risk culture, regulatory compliance and practice of good governance in the bank.

He discussed about the importance and impacts of the “Tone of the Top” culture in the bank’s risk governance and the significance of risk escalation towards developing NRB Bank as a risk focused sustainable bank.

He also urged all concerned officials to be more cautious in the challenging environment and be a prudent risk manager of his/her respective desk.

Through this initiative, NRB Bank PLC. reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening corporate governance, promoting a proactive risk management culture and ensuring sustainable banking practices in line with Bangladesh Bank's regulatory guidelines.
