Prime Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank, formally joining the Export Diversification Refinance Scheme as a participating financial institution (PFI).

The agreement will enable Prime Bank to provide its export-oriented clients with access to refinance facilities under the scheme.

The agreement was signed recently by Faisal Rahman, chief executive officer of Prime Bank PLC, and AKM Nurunnobi, director, Sustainable Finance Department, Bangladesh Bank.

Under the scheme, Prime Bank will be eligible to avail refinance facilities to support export-oriented industries operating in priority and special development sectors identified under Bangladesh’s Export Policy 2024-2027.

The refinance scheme is aimed at encouraging exporters to diversify their product offerings and explore new international markets, while enhancing competitiveness and strengthening Bangladesh’s export base beyond traditional sectors.

The participation reinforces Prime Bank’s continued efforts to expand access to sustainable and priority-sector financing for Bangladeshi businesses.

It also further strengthens the bank’s collaboration with Bangladesh Bank in advancing the country’s export diversification agenda and supporting the long-term growth of the export sector.
