Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has signed a landmark participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank (BB) under the central bank’s Tk41,000 crore financing package.

Formed from the banking sector's surplus liquidity, this strategic initiative provides affordable pre-finance and refinance facilities to revitalize priority sectors, restart closed industries, support CMSMEs, expand agriculture, enhance export diversification, and build regional economic hubs.

The agreement was signed on August 27, at Bangladesh Bank Headquarters, with MTB represented by Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, acting managing director & CEO, and Md Shamsul Islam, deputy managing director & group head of treasury, alongside senior officials from Bangladesh Bank, including deputy governors Md Kabir Ahmed and Md Sarwar Hossain.

Top executives from several other participating commercial banks—including Agrani Bank, Rupali Bank, Jamuna Bank, Mercantile Bank, NCC Bank, Prime Bank, Southeast Bank, Trust Bank, and Uttara Bank-were also present during this joint ceremony.

Through this participation, MTB reinforces its commitment to leveraging sound treasury management to channel low-cost credit directly into productive sectors, fostering job creation and national economic resilience.
