Abdul Hai Sarker has recently been re-elected as chairman of the board of directors of Dhaka Bank PLC. for a further term of two years.
Born in Sirajganj, Sarker completed his post-graduation (M.Com.) from the University of Dhaka in 1970.
Following his academic journey, he ventured into international trade and business, where he established himself as one of the country's distinguished industrialists.
Through his visionary leadership, entrepreneurial acumen, and unwavering dedication, he built the Purbani Group into one of Bangladesh's leading business conglomerates.
Sarker is the founder chairman of Dhaka Bank PLC and chairman of the Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB).
He also served as a director of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
In the education sector, he was the former chairman of the Board of Trustees of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).
He also served as the president of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) for four consecutive terms.
In addition, he is a founder member of the board of trustees of the Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and previously served as an associate director of the International Cotton Association, Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Beyond his remarkable achievements in business, Sarker has made significant contributions to social welfare and community development.
His dedication to the betterment of society has earned him recognition and accolades from numerous organizations.
In acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions to trade and industry, the Government of Bangladesh has also conferred upon him the Commercially Important Person (CIP) status.
