Standard Islami Bank PLC. organized a workshop titled `Shari’ah Compliance in Banking Operations` at the bank's head office on July 14.
The workshop was presided over by managing director of the bank Riad Mahmud Chowdhury.
Chairman of the bank's Shariah supervisory committee Mufti Mohammad Muhibbullahil Baqee An-Nadwi graced the occasion as chief guest, and member of the bank's Shariah supervisory committee Prof Hafiz Muztaba Riza Ahmed attended as special guest.
The workshop was conducted by additional managing director of the bank Md Siddiqur Rahman.
Mufti Mohammad Muhibbullahil Baqee An-Nadwi, in his address, emphasized on the importance of ethical values and good conduct in Islamic banking.
Prof Hafiz Muztaba Riza Ahmed discussed the importance of Shariah compliance in Islamic banking including its key requirements and procedures.
Officials of the Shariah secretariat division along with heads from various divisions of the head office attended the workshop where branch heads, managers (operations) and investment in-charges from branches also participated in the program.
