Mohammad Zahir Hussain, executive director of Bangladesh Bank and authorized representative for the board affairs of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC exchanged views with the officials and employees of the bank.
Senior executives from the head office joined in person, while officials and employees from across the country were connected through virtual platform in the meeting held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Islami Bank Tower.
Md Altaf Hossain, acting managing director of the bank, presided over the program.
Engr Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder and M Kamal Uddin Jasim, additional managing directors, also addressed on the occasion.
Mohammad Zahir Hussain said: "Islami Bank is a systematically important bank in Bangladesh's financial system. This institution is closely inter-related with the country's imports and exports, remittance, foreign trade, the businesses of millions of entrepreneurs, and the financial activities of crores of people. Therefore, the stability of Islami Bank is not just a matter for our institution; it is also a crucial element of national economic stability."
He said that Islami Bank became an exemplary institution, not only in Bangladesh but also in the international arena due to the honesty, efficiency, professionalism, and relentless hard work of the officers and employees of this bank. Over the past few years, this bank has faced various adverse situations.
The real strength of an institution is never lost; that strength can be revived through proper leadership, correct guidance, and collective efforts, he added.
He further said “Bangladesh Bank has taken some important and timely decisions for the interest of the recent situation and the overall financial stability of the country. Under the overall guidance and cooperation of Bangladesh Bank, the bank's activities will be conducted entirely on the basis of professionalism, transparency, and accountability. In due time, according to the decision of the regulatory body, the process of forming a strong, efficient, and acceptable board of directors will also be completed."
