United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has launched its new integrated digital banking platform, “UCB One.”
This platform will provide all types of banking services quickly and easily.
Additionally, UCB One users can simplify their daily lives through shopping, making bookings, utility bill payment and enjoying various offers.
The journey of UCB One began Sunday, April 12, through an event organized at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, adviser to the prime minister on finance and planning, inaugurated UCB One at the ceremony.
The event was attended by Sharif Zahir, chairman, UCB, and Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, managing director and CEO. Policymakers, businessmen, stakeholders, and senior bank officials were also present.
Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, adviser to the prime minister on finance and planning, welcomed UCB One and stated: "The government is considering various initiatives to prevent the various ‘diseases’ inherited within the banking sector. Among these, a primary focus is the full digitalization of the financial system and ensuring every citizen has a bank account. This will eliminate irregularities and lack of transparency while establishing an inclusive financial system. I seek the cooperation of all banks in this regard."
Sharif Zahir, chairman of UCB, remarked: "UCB has shown consistent improvement over the last two years as a result of ensuring good governance, transparency, and discipline. We are working to strengthen inclusive and cashless banking in the future, as digital systems are the future of the banking sector. The launch of today's app marks the beginning of our journey toward that goal."
Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, managing director and CEO of UCB, said: “This is not just a new app. By integrating all services, we want to provide better service to our customers. It will be highly suitable for young and tech-savvy customers and will play a vital role in further strengthening the cashless transaction system in the country.”
At the beginning of the program, Md Abdullah Al Mamoon, deputy managing director and chief operating officer of UCB, highlighted various features of the app.
”Previously customers have been enjoying digital services through the Unet app. From now on, the app will automatically turn into UCB One. It is the bank's new integrated digital platform, where various types of banking services will be available in one place. It includes instant account opening, sending money to mobile financial services (MFS), bill payment, card management, QR payment, and loan facilities up to Tk50,000. Beyond banking, users can easily enjoy popular lifestyle brands, food ordering, payments, travel booking, ticketing facilities, and special offers through this app. These features will provide customers with a simple, fast, secure, and modern banking experience. The app also includes biometric features. We want customers to say there is only one app - UCB One.”
It was also noted that more features will be added to this platform in the coming days.
Notably, UCB is the first bank in Bangladesh to start using the latest version (14.7) of Oracle's Open API.
This has strengthened the app's security system. The bank has also achieved the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS).
