Banks' last day before Eid vacation Wednesday

The banks and non-bank financial institutions will remain open Wednesday, the last day of transactions before going on Eid vacation.

They will remain closed from Thursday until August 11.

Meanwhile, the stock exchanges are already closed from yesterday and will remain closed till August 11.

Trading and official activities of the stock exchanges will be resumed on August 12 after the Eid vacation. The trading hours will be from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and office hours from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The banks also remained closed yesterday due to Lailatul Qadr, but the branches related with garment industry and located at the industrial areas of Dhaka City, Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Khulna and Chittagong were opened to facilitate the garment workers to withdraw their wages.

The AD branches of the commercial banks at some points have been asked to continue operation on the weekly holidays during the Eid vacation until further order to facilitate foreign trade and transactions.

The places include Dhaka and Chittagong airports, Chittagong and Mongla sea ports and Benapole, Sonamosjid and Hili land ports along with Kamalapur Inland Container Depot.

Any bank branches dealing with export-import trade can be kept open on the weekly holidays if the banks consider necessary, according to Bangladesh Bank instruction.
