Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) has announced a 35% dividend payout for the 2020 year.
It is comprised of 17.50% cash and 17.50% stock.
Shareholders at the 29th Annual General Meeting held virtually on Sunday unanimously approved the dividend, said a press release.
The dividend amount is the highest amount among commercial banks in Bangladesh.
Md. Showkat Ali Chowdhury, chairman of the board of directors of EBL, led the meeting.
Other attendees include the directors of the bank M. Ghaziul Haque, Mir Nasir Hossain, Salina Ali, Anis Ahmed, Mufakkharul Islam Khasru, Gazi Md. Shakhawat Hossain, K. J. S Banu, Zara Namreen, and Ashiq Imran, Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekar, Company Secretary Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, and other senior officials.
Many shareholders joined the meeting and approved the agenda.
According to EBL, shareholders appreciated the board and management of the bank’s financial performance despite challenges during the pandemic.
