Basic Bank closed its Chowrasta branch in Gazipur on Sunday after seven officials, including the branch manager, tested positive for Covid-19.
The branch was shut down as per the bank management's decision, considering the safety of both its customers and employees," read a circular signed by Md Mahabubul Alam, deputy general manager of the bank's branch control division.
As per the circular, seven officers and staffs, including the branch manager, were infected with the novel virus and are currently being treated at various hospitals in the capital and Gazipur.
Some are also under home quarantine, the circular mentioned.
Previously, the bank's Islampur branch in the capital was also locked down on June 1 after eight employees of the branch tested Covid-19 positive.
