Al least 50% officials and employees of Bangladesh Bank (BB) can now work from home, as per a circular issued by the central bank on Thursday.
The circular also says that all head of departments of the central bank's head office, as well as the chief executive of the branch offices and general managers will be able to distribute the responsibilities of the officials on a roster basis considering the importance of the work.
Earlier, Bangladesh Bank Officers' Welfare Council submitted a memorandum to BB, requesting him to introduce an alternate duty roster on a weekly or biweekly basis.
The memorandum was sent in light of around 50 BB officials and employees getting infected with Covid-19 and 100 other staffs having coronavirus symptoms.
The move to introduce "work from home" for half of Bangladesh Bank's officials and employees was due to many of them getting infected with the novel virus, said Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Serajul Islam.
