The principal branch of Agrani Bank Limited was locked down on Wednesday after a branch official was found to be infected with coronavirus.
Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam, managing director of Agrani Bank, confirmed the infection.
"One of the branch officials was suffering from fever for days. We decided to lockdown the branch after he had tested positive for coronavirus," he added.
"The official used to work at the branch’s foreign exchange desk. A total of 62 staffers working at the branch were asked to remain under home quarantine. The branch will remain under lockdown for 14 days," Shams added.
All activities of the principal branch, located at Motijheel commercial area, would now be shifted to the bank's Amin Court branch at the same area, the managing director said.
