Banks asked to use Bangla in loan approval letters

In a bid to enforce the Bengali Language Introduction Act 1987, Bangladesh Bank has asked the banks concerned to use Bangla in their loan approval letters. "All banks will have to use Bangla in loan approval letters for implementing the goal of the Bengali Language Introduction Act 1987 and protecting clients’ interests," said a notification issued by the central bank on Sunday. The banks can also issue their loan approval letters in both English and Bangla, it added. The instruction will come into effect on July 1.
