Green Delta Insurance PLC has hosted a reception for Sayeed Ahmed, MP, President of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA), on his election as chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Public Administration.
The reception was held on Monday (October 26) at Hotel Renaissance in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The event was attended by leading figures of the country’s insurance sector, members of the BIA Executive Committee, and insurance industry leaders.
At the event, Farzanah Choudhury, managing director and CEO of Green Delta Insurance PLC, welcomed Sayeed Ahmed, MP.
Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, founding managing director of the company, then draped a shawl over him. Later, a special sketch of Sayeed Ahmed, MP, was presented to him.
One of the main objectives of the event was to exchange views on the development of the country’s insurance sector, mutual cooperation, and future prospects.
The theme also highlighted the goal of raising the insurance sector’s contribution to GDP to 1%.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran. An audio-visual presentation on the progress, potential, and activities of Bangladesh’s insurance sector was then screened.
Another audio-visual presentation, highlighting Sayeed Ahmed’s work related to the insurance sector, was also shown.
Farzanah Choudhury, MD and CEO of Green Delta Insurance PLC, in her welcome speech, stressed the importance of the sector’s development and of mutual cooperation among those involved in it.
Speakers at the event included AKM Iftekhar Ahmad, senior consultant, Green Delta Insurance; BM Yousuf Ali, MD and CEO of Popular Life Insurance PLC and member of the BIA executive committee; Nasir Uddin Ahmed, vice president of Karnaphuli Insurance and former president of BIA; Towhid Samad, chairman of Bangladesh General Insurance Company (BGIC); and Nizam Uddin, chairman of the board of directors of Meghna Life Insurance PLC.
Also present were Mir Nasir Hossain, managing director of Mir Telecom Limited and former president of FBCCI; Mohammad Sohrab Uddin, actuary and former chairman of Jibon Bima Corporation and Sadharan Bima Corporation; Mahbubur Rahman, former chairman of Eastland Insurance PLC; Adeeba Rahman, first vice president of BIA and director of Delta Life Insurance; Kazi Shakhawat Hossain, vice president of BIA and chairman of Agrani Insurance; and other representatives of the insurance sector.
Sayeed Ahmed, MP, was congratulated and wished success in his new responsibility. He then addressed the guests.
The closing remarks were delivered by Syed Forhad Abbas Hussain, head of reinsurance at Green Delta Insurance PLC.
