A special commemorative event was held at SFBL Arena on Madani Avenue, Dhaka, to mark the 101st birth anniversary of Samson H Chowdhury, late founder chairman of Square Group.
On this occasion, a special collection of memoirs titled ‘Samson H Chowdhury: Stories of Uncompromising Integrity’ was officially unveiled.
The publication encapsulates his life, career, and steadfast principles, featuring a compilation of personal reflections and accounts shared by eminent personalities, business leaders, and close family associates who worked closely with him.
Tapan Chowdhury, managing director of Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, delivered the keynote speech at the event.
On behalf of the family, Sanchia Chowdhury, director of Square Fashions Limited, offered her reflections.
Mahbubur Rahman, president of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Bangladesh, shared moving recollections of Samson H Chowdhury.
A short excerpt from the documentary film ‘Samson: Through a Son's Lens’, produced on the occasion of Samson H Chowdhury’s birth centenary, was also screened during the ceremony.
On the occasion of Samson H Chowdhury's birth centenary, the Anita-Samson Foundation and the Square Family initiated several social welfare activities.
Key among these ongoing initiatives were the nationwide mobile healthcare program ‘Chhappanno Hazaar Square Mile Jure’, educational support programs for underprivileged children, free eye care camps for garment workers, assistance to youth female footballers in Kolsindur, and a joint project with Brac and Pabna Municipality for modern waste management in Pabna.
