The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) in Bangladesh has officially launched the 10th edition of its flagship 'HSBC Export Excellence Awards 2026' to recognize and honor Bangladeshi exporters for their contributions to the nation’s sustainable economic growth.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.

The awards program will recognize high-performing businesses across four distinct categories based on annual export revenue thresholds:

  • Readymade garments (RMG): Open to mainstream apparel manufacturers generating $100 million or more in annual export revenue.
  • RMG Backward Linkage: Open to primary textile and accessory suppliers supporting RMG and other manufacturing sectors with export earnings of $50 million and above.
  • Non-Traditional and Emerging Sectors (Manufacturing): Open to industrial producers—including electronics, light engineering, plastics, furniture, footwear, leather goods, agro-processing, and automotive components—with revenues reaching $10 million and above.
  • Non-Traditional and Emerging Sectors (Service): Open to professional, digital, and knowledge-based service providers generating $5 million or more in annual export revenue.

Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission Dhaka, the awards will utilize Ernst & Young (EY) as an independent technical auditing partner.

Final selections will be evaluated by a joint jury board comprising representatives from HSBC’s senior leadership, the Ministry of Commerce, and the British High Commission.

Candidates will be assessed on financial performance, national economic contribution, operational diversity, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and sustainable business practices.

Speaking at the launch, Md Mahbub ur Rahman, chief executive officer of HSBC Bangladesh, emphasized that the initiative honors trailblazing enterprises redefining the global footprint of "Made in Bangladesh" through innovation, quality, and long-term sustainability.

Talukdar Noman Anwar, country head of communications at HSBC Bangladesh, detailed the program's guidelines and entry criteria.

The press conference featured a discussion on Bangladesh's evolving export landscape with previous award winners, including Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, chairman & CEO of Pran-RFL Group; Enayetur Rahman, CEO & president of Ulkasemi; and Asif Ashraf, director & CEO of Urmi Group.

The session was also attended by Saiyab Ahmed, deputy director of trade & investment at the British High Commission Dhaka, and Naushad Ekramullah, partner and managing director at EY Bangladesh.

The awards program carries no entry fee or financial purse and is open to all operating enterprises across Bangladesh, regardless of whether they maintain an existing banking relationship with HSBC.

Eligible businesses and third-party nominators can submit entries online through the official portal (www.business.hsbc.com.bd/EEA2026) until the nomination deadline on September 20, 2026.
