Nagad Ltd has arranged a two-day book fair titled “Nagad-Prothoma Boibandhon” in collaboration with Prothoma.com for its employees.
The event began at Nagad’s head office in Banani on Monday, aimed at providing employees the opportunity to purchase their desired books.
Executive editor of Prothom Alo and poet Sajjad Sharif, Nagad administrator Md Motasem Billah, senior associate administrator of Nagad Syed Himyanuddin Ahmed, along with other senior officials, were present at the inauguration.
Speaking at the event, Sajjad Sharif said the reading habit among people has declined in recent years. A society advances through study and education. That is why no matter how times change, there is no alternative to reading or learning. A nation can excel only through reading.
He emphasised strengthening the relationship between the two organisations and urged employees to read books.
At the event, Nagad Administrator Md Motasem Billah said he has been accustomed to reading books since childhood. He believes it is essential to apply the knowledge gained from reading to practical life. The habit of reading books has now reduced among many.
He noted this initiative will offer employees a different feel amid the busy schedules and monotony of corporate life.
Under the arrangement, Nagad employees will receive a 20% discount on local books published by Prothoma and a 5% discount on foreign titles.
Customers making payments via Nagad’s Bangla QR code get an additional percent discount.
Muhammad Zahidul Islam, head of media and communications at Nagad Ltd., hosted the opening ceremony.
The event was organised under the supervision of Nagad’s Human Resources Division.
A similar book fair was previously organised by Nagad Ltd. and Prothoma.com in January 2024.
