Charumoti returns to parents’ lap: The tiny fighter defies odds, brings hope to thousands

Receives intensive treatment at LabAid Hospital

Update : 30 Jul 2026, 07:09 PM

What once seemed almost impossible has today become a remarkable story of hope, extraordinary mental strength, and the success of modern neonatal care.

Born before completing just 26 weeks of gestation and weighing only 600 grams at birth, baby Charumoti has finally returned to her parents’ lap after nearly two months of intensive specialized treatment at Labaid Hospital in Dhaka.

The elder of twin children born in Pabna, Charumoti’s life began surrounded by uncertainty.

Tragically, her twin brother passed away at birth, leaving the entire family in deep grief.

Shortly afterward, Charumoti was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Labaid Hospital in Dhaka, where her relentless battle for survival began.

Despite countless challenges and extremely slim chances, Charumoti displayed extraordinary courage, patience, and an unyielding will to survive.

Under the constant supervision of a dedicated medical team consisting of neonatologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, she received intensive medical care.

At the time of discharge from the hospital, Charumoti’s weight had increased to 760 grams, marking another important milestone in her inspiring journey.

Although she will require regular follow-ups and specialized medical care in the coming days, her healthy return home from the hospital is an extraordinary achievement for both the family and the medical team.

To celebrate this joyful moment, Labaid Hospital organized a heartfelt and emotional event.

The program was hosted by Ahmad Dawood, CEO of Labaid Hospital.

The event featured speeches by neonatology and pediatrics specialist Prof Md Abdul Mannan, pediatric specialist Dr Ajmery Sultana Chowdhury, and Gynecologist Prof Dr Moriam Farooqui (Swati).

Senior consultants, pediatric specialists, nurses, and senior officials of the hospital were present on the occasion.

After the cake-cutting ceremony, a special gift from the hospital was also presented to Charumoti’s parents.

They thanked the Labaid Hospital authorities for their services and continuous support and expressed their gratitude.

Charumoti has also become part of another milestone in history.

She is the first baby to receive treatment at Labaid Hospital’s *Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC)* unit.

This internationally recognized care method places special emphasis on prolonged skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby, ensuring breastfeeding, and close medical monitoring.

Research has shown that this approach significantly increases the survival chances and healthy development of premature and low-birth-weight babies.

Doctors said that Charumoti’s recovery is a shining example of the dedication and commitment of the country’s physicians, modern neonatal treatment methods, Labaid Hospital’s advanced medical support, and the unconditional love, unwavering patience, and indomitable mental strength of her parents.

Finally, when Charumoti returned safely to her parents’ arms, the celebration was not merely about a hospital discharge; it was the return of hope, the triumph of life, and a unique symbol of the immense strength hidden even within the smallest warrior.
