Daffodil International University (DIU) and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Bangladesh jointly organized a seminar titled “Women Empowerment in a Changing World: Leadership, Innovation and Opportunities” focusing on women’s leadership development, innovation, and emerging opportunities in a changing global landscape.
The seminar was held on Tuesday (July 28) at the International Conference Hall of Knowledge Tower, Daffodil Smart City, where discussions were held on women’s leadership, entrepreneurship development, innovation, and women’s participation in the global context.
Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi, Ambassador of the UAE to Bangladesh, joined as chief guest of the seminar and highlighted the role of women empowerment in the development of the UAE discussed about the contributions of women in education, business, international cooperation, and building skilled human resources.
The ambassador's participation in the seminar further reflected the growing educational and institutional relationship between the UAE and Daffodil International University.
Laura Acker, a multilingual entrepreneur, international business consultant, and strategic development expert, participated as the keynote speaker.
She emphasized the importance of women's leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development, and lifelong learning in preparing women to seize opportunities in a rapidly changing global economy
The event was chaired by Md Sabur Khan, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University.
Prof Mohammad Masum Iqbal, acting vice chancellor of DIU, along with university officials, faculty members from different departments, and students were present at the seminar.
The seminar featured discussions on women’s leadership development, innovation, entrepreneurship, skill enhancement, employment opportunities, and women’s participation in the changing global landscape.
Speakers also highlighted the role of women in education, international cooperation, and building skilled human resources.
As part of DIU’s international education initiatives, the seminar also highlighted the DIU RAK Campus, established in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
In 2024, DIU became the first university from Bangladesh to establish an overseas branch campus, marking an important milestone in the university’s ongoing academic engagement with the UAE and its international education initiatives.
The organizers said the seminar provided students, faculty members, young entrepreneurs, and interested participants with opportunities to gain international experiences and practical perspectives.
The initiative also contributed to expanding knowledge exchange and experience-sharing between Bangladesh and the UAE in the areas of women’s empowerment, leadership development, and inclusive growth.
The organizers expressed their commitment to strengthening academic cooperation between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates through similar international initiatives.
They noted that the establishment of DIU RAK Campus and continued collaboration with UAE institutions will create greater opportunities for students, faculty members, researchers, and industry partners while promoting leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and global engagement.
