Brac University welcomed three distinguished new members to its board of trustees, strengthening the board’s collective expertise in higher education, academic leadership, financial governance and institutional stewardship at an important stage in the university’s growth.
The new trustees are Claire Gordon, director of the Eden Centre for Education Enhancement at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE); Masud Khan, chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission and former chairman of Unilever Consumer Care Ltd, and Prof Imran Rahman, former vice-chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.
Their appointments were approved in accordance with Brac University’s governance process and reflect the university’s commitment to drawing on national and international expertise as it advances its next phase of institutional development.
“At this important moment in Brac University’s journey, we are pleased to welcome three highly accomplished individuals to the Board of Trustees,” said Tamara Hasan Abed, chairperson of the Brac University Board of Trustees.
“Their experience in global higher education, university leadership, financial governance and institutional development will bring valuable perspectives as Brac University continues to strengthen teaching and learning, student experience and research for impact,” she said.
Claire Gordon brings extensive experience in educational development, curriculum enhancement, academic promotion and career development, digital innovation and inclusive practice in higher education.
Her work at LSE includes leading on teaching and learning innovation and the institutional approach to generative AI in education, alongside fostering international academic collaboration.
Her appointment will add a global perspective to Brac University's continuing efforts to strengthen curriculum, pedagogy and educational quality.
Masud Khan brings decades of experience in financial management, corporate governance, capital markets, audit oversight and board leadership across multinational and national institutions.
His expertise will support the board’s fiduciary responsibilities and contribute to the university’s long-term financial sustainability, governance resilience and institutional accountability.
Prof Imran Rahman brings deep experience in university leadership, business education, academic governance and institutional development.
A former vice-chancellor of Ulab and a long-serving academic leader, he has played an important role in advancing higher education practice in Bangladesh.
His experience will support Brac University’s continued focus on student-centered education, academic quality and institutional excellence.
Brac University said the appointments come at a significant point in its journey as the university continues to build on its founding commitment to academic excellence, social impact and inclusive development.
The addition of the new trustees will further strengthen the board’s role in guiding the university’s strategic priorities and long-term institutional growth.
