Nagad launches 10 lakh merchants’ Bangla QR

From now on, Nagad users can make direct payments through the Nagad app by scanning any Bangla QR code displayed at retail outlets, shopping malls, restaurants, or local marketplaces across the country

Update : 25 Jun 2026, 02:51 PM

Nagad has launched “Bangla QR” payment services for its users.

Concurrently, the digital financial arm of the Postal Department has introduced an instant “Transfer Money” feature, enabling seamless fund transfers between personal accounts across all banks and other MFS operators.

With this integration, Nagad joins a nationwide network of nearly 10 lakh merchants under the Bangla QR umbrella.

Aimed at making cashless transactions simpler, safer, and universally accessible, Nagad formally integrated the Bangla QR and the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) network on Thursday (June 25).

The move ensures ultimate transactional freedom for its millions of customers.

To mark the inauguration of Bangla QR, Nagad organized an event on Thursday.

Md Motasem Billah, the Bangladesh Bank-appointed administrator of Nagad, led this event at the Banani Chairmanbari playground in the capital.

Other members of the administrator team and more than four hundred officials and employees of Nagad working in Dhaka participated in the event. It was announced from the event that Nagad will continue its all-out activities to popularize Bangla QR.

From now on, Nagad users can make direct payments through the Nagad app by scanning any Bangla QR code displayed at retail outlets, shopping malls, restaurants, or local marketplaces across the country.

This consolidated initiative by Bangladesh Bank, now delivered to consumers by Nagad, eliminates the hassle of using disparate QR codes for different banks or MFS operators.  ‍

Merchants will no longer need to display multiple QR codes; a single “Bangla QR” is all it takes for Nagad users to complete payments instantly with their smartphones.

This is expected to streamline business operations and drastically reduce the friction traditionally associated with digital payment adoption.

Until now, the domestic digital payment ecosystem was fragmented, with individual institutions deploying proprietary QR codes, often causing confusion and limitation for both customers and merchants.

Bangla QR removes this barrier by establishing a unified payment platform, making digital transactions simpler, faster, and more widely accepted.

Alongside Bangla QR, Nagad has implemented NPSB services. Under this peer-to-peer (P2P) facility, customers can transfer money directly to their Nagad wallets from any bank account or MFS operator in the country.

Similarly, they can instantly move funds from Nagad to any bank or MFS account.

This interoperability bridges the gap between traditional banking and mobile financial services, fostering a frictionless financial ecosystem.

Together, these two initiatives will reduce dependence on paper currency and significantly accelerate the country’s transition toward a cashless economy.

Md Motasem Billah, the Bangladesh Bank-appointed administrator of Nagad, said: “Bangla QR is a revolutionary milestone in making cashless transactions easier, safer, and more cost-effective for both consumers and businesses. Moving forward, Nagad customers can execute cashless payments in the blink of an eye by scanning a single, unified QR code at any shop, seamlessly pulling small traders into the digital payment network. This single QR-based architecture will play a pivotal role in driving financial inclusion and realising the vision of a ‘Cashless Bangladesh’.”

“Furthermore, the integration with NPSB establishes an instant connection between Nagad and the country’s banking sector. Customers can now execute bidirectional money transfers between Nagad and any bank or MFS account at any time, which will save valuable time by reducing the need for physical bank visits while ensuring 100% financial autonomy in their daily transactions,” he added.
