Kazi Tea has received special recognition in two categories at the National Tea Awards 2026 organized by the Bangladesh Tea Board for its innovative tea marketing and promotion of nutritious and quality blended tea products.
The awards were announced on Friday at the sixth National Tea Day program held at the auditorium-cum-multipurpose hall in Sreemangal, widely known as the “tea capital” of Bangladesh. Certificates and honors were later handed over to the recipients.
Kazi Tea was recognized in the categories of innovative marketing of tea products and marketing of nutritious and quality blended tea. The award was received on behalf of the company by Ashfaqur Rahman, chief operating officer of its packaging unit.
At the event, Sri Govindapur Tea Garden was named the highest per-acre tea-producing garden in the country, while Madhupur Tea Garden was recognized for producing the highest quality tea.
The award for best tea exporter went to The Consolidated Tea and Lands Company (Bangladesh) Ltd.
Md Matiur Rahman of Sonapatila village under Atwari upazila in Panchagarh was named the best small-scale tea producer, while Mirzapur Tea Garden received recognition for its contribution to workers’ welfare.
In the labor category, Jasmine Oraon of Nepucha Tea Garden was recognized as the best tea leaf plucker. Sristy Tea Ltd of Jagdal area in Panchagarh Sadar upazila was named the best bottling tea factory as a special award of National Tea Day.
Local lawmaker (Moulvibazar-4) Md Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury attended the program as chief guest.
He said tea is not just a beverage but is closely linked with Bangladesh’s history, economy and the livelihoods of millions of people.
“The tea industry must move forward with renewed commitment to become more modern, sustainable and internationally competitive,” he said.
Mujibur said more than 160 tea gardens, along with numerous small tea growers, are contributing significantly to the national economy, adding that Bangladeshi tea is also being exported to several countries.
Highlighting the role of tea workers, he said their contribution is indispensable to the sector’s growth.
“Ensuring fair wages, improved housing, education, healthcare and social security for tea workers is everyone’s responsibility,” he added.
